About Us

Ollie

Ollie’s love for animals started at a very young age. His parents bought him his first New Forest Pony when he was just one month old. Since then Ollie has built up a small herd of ponies which spend virtually all of their lives grazing the Forest.

Growing up on a smallholding in the New Forest, the traditional practice of commoning has been part of every day life for Ollie for over thirty years.

During this time his passion for commoning has grown and before long his small herd of ponies found themselves in the company of a herd of pedigree Red Devon cattle and pigs which are depastured on to the Forest each Autumn for the pannage season.

Tess

Tess grew up in rural Dorset and over the years has looked after a whole menagerie of animals which started quite simply with chickens, ducks and bees. In 2014 she found herself looking after two orphan Dorset Down lambs which she successfully hand reared. Since then she has kept a variety of sheep breeds including Friesians and Portland. She currently has a small flock of Hebridean sheep which she hopes to grow.

Tess is also qualified in food hygiene, handling and transport having attained her RoSPA approved certificates in Food Safety & Hygiene for Retail – Level 2 as well as Food Safety for Manufacturing – Level 2.

In 2019 Tess moved to the New Forest, where she now works with Ollie looking after their livestock.

Whisky

Whisky, the fox red Labrador, is an essential member of the team. We haven’t quite worked out what she brings to the party, but it wouldn’t be the same without her!

Forest Fed

Forest Fed was launched in 2020 with the intention to create an outlet for our growing range of sustainably sourced products from the New Forest. By buying our produce you are helping us continue this traditional practice which plays such an important role in preserving the New Forest’s special characteristics as well as giving value to an incredibly unique resource.
